Three of them are member clubs of the Gem and Mineral Clubs Association of South Australia, which is the most reliable place to check a club is still running. The clubs are small, they meet monthly, and the real activity is the club hunt or field day that follows the meeting, including trips over the border to the Victorian goldfields.

What joining a club actually gets you

The hunt after the meeting is the drawSouthern Seekers runs a club hunt on the Sunday following its monthly meeting. The Adelaide Detector Club lists monthly field days locally, in the country and interstate, for relics, coins and gold prospecting. The Goldfields Club of South Australia has listed field days on alternate months and an annual trip to a Victorian goldfield.

Meetings are monthly and venues are fixedSouthern Seekers meets on the second Monday at 7.30pm at the Flaxmill Log Cabin, Christie Downs. The Adelaide Detector Club meets on the first Wednesday at 7.30pm at St Philips Church Hall, Broadview. Adelaide Treasure Hunters meets on the third Wednesday at 7.30pm at the community hall on Derlanger Ave, Collinswood. All three skip January.

The gold is mostly over the borderSouth Australian clubs run trips to the Victorian goldfields as well as local ground, and Victoria has its own licence and land rules.
