About this layer

Ancient-place records help you research where earlier settlements or other sites were recorded. Compare their locations with old routes, terrain and other historical sources. A recorded site may be protected and is not a detecting target by default.

What it is for

Read the available record and compare its date, description and location with other historical sources.

Limits

Record locations may be generalised or approximate. Historic interest does not establish permission to detect or disturb a site.
